As it comes up often, please do note: Meraki MDM is no longer free. To Casper Jamf Now (Previously "Bushel,") Opens a new window One can do a great deal with Munki, ARD, DEP & MDM = ranging from MicroMDM Opens a new window Again, a reference to Munki will be found at I'm personally a big fan of open source and you can do amazing things with Munki and other tools surrounding it, but you'll still need something else for the remote control part.Īgreed. use Firefox, Chrome, etc.No need for the Mac Mini as a local server unless you want it.įor the policies you need to research Configuration Profiles which can be enforced through an MDM or other tool like Munki. Side issue: I thought I saw mention that the CWA console supported Safari, but when I use Safari it says it is not supported. Issue 9: I was checking the tail of agent.log on my Mac, and noticed that not only was it trying to check in every 5 seconds, it was submitting an inventory every few minutes. I have requested that be turned off for all Macs since I don't see that I have the option to turn it off. Problem is, if the cwa host is acting up, it causes a nightmare of spinning beachballs on Macs with that option turned on. Issue 8: I figured out that FasTalk was what causes the client to check in every 5 seconds instead of every 5 minutes. Issue 7: Why does heartbeat show up for some Macs and not others? What is it? Is that an option they can grant to a tenant? I'm sure they have an admin view and just assume that I can see the same options. Issue 6: How do I remove computers from the console? Our MSP said to just select "Retire", but I don't have that option. Is there some configuration option for tenants that causes that? Issue 5: If I right click on any computer in the web console (PC or Mac), I get a "Error : Forbidden OK" pop-up, as well as the "Open Commands >" popup. If I quit out of Screenconnect and relaunch it, then it usually connects to the remote host (If it isn't broken by issue 2.) On those that I CAN get a remote control session to from a PC, if try to remote control from the Mac, it launches the ScreenConnect client, and then it just sits there saying it is trying to connect. Issue 4: Remote controlling PCs and Macs from a Mac is a nightmare. The only new Macs I have been able to successfully control are ones that I have manually copied over the connectwisecontrol app from /opt and and connectwisecontrol launchdeamon plist. Issue 3: Is the ConnectWise client still used for remote control? If it is, the installer I am using doesn't install it at all, nor does it come down post-install. Confirm Control is enabled." This happens on computers that do have the ConnectWise client installed in /opt as well as those that don't. Issue 2: Nearly all of the Macs I attempt to remote control via the console give me a "Empty Response Unable to retrieve connection information from this computer. The LTsvc.mpkg installer was pulled from the CWA console, but it doesn't install the defs or imgs folders into /usr/local/ltechagent, nor does it setup a computer_config file (as is present on all the machines that were transitioned.) Did our MSP miss a configuration step on the console? The agent_config file is set up properly. However, any new Mac installs, it only shows the generic gear icon. Issue 1: The initial installs of the Labtech client when our MSP transitioned from one of the goto products to ConnectWise, shows the MSPs custom icon instead of the generic gear. Switching to the stand-alone console, I am able to resolve many of the issues. ![]() Update: Issues 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 appear to be problems because I was using (and only knew about) the web console. Since I am not the MSP, I don't really have access to the support people that might be able to resolve these issues in a timely manor so I'm asking here. to the point I really don't want it installed on our Macs at all. Problem is, I am encountering a lot of bugs with ConnectWise on the Macs. I have been the Mac & PC admin at my company for over 20 years, and we decided to go the MSP route because I couldn't deal with everything on my own (Routers, backups, voip, various subscriptions, etc.) Our MSP does a good job, but they don't support many Macs.
